relax.
smile. enjoy.
Hi, and welcome
to Papa Razzi Photography.
I'm Jim Potts,
and I founded Papa Razzi in 2007 after having spent over 30 years
actively photographing every possible living and inanimate object
around me. Or at least it seems that way.
I believe that
photography is very much an art, and art is very much about passion
and feeling.
Songwriter and
musician Danielle Howle attempts to describe her passion for music by
saying "I like to think of myself as a photographer that uses
melody and words in place of film and camera." This is
great!
Well, I like to
picture myself as a musician that uses light and motion in place of
words and music.
Great photographs
are about feelings. Think about it - what really is a
"feeling"? It's that combination of sight, sound,
touch, smell and taste that come together in a way that moves you to
"feel". The right combination of senses at the
right time can raise goose bumps on your arm, can bring tears to your
eyes, and can literally take your breath away.
This, to me, is
what photography should be. Photography is the artistic
interpretation of what you see, how things smell, how things feel,
what things taste like and what the sounds are saying. It's the
glimmer of a highlight on the edge of wet apple that allows you to
literally taste the apple as you view it's image. It's a fog,
hugging the greens of a meadow, that make you feel the cool calm of
the grass right before sunrise. It's the harsh shadows cast
across the details of a tombstone that make you stop and remember in
an instant an entire life of a loved one.
And this is what
Papa Razzi is all about.
We look for the
details. We feel the pulse and timing and music of the life
we're viewing.
And then we
capture it in such as way as to awaken your senses when you experience
our images.
We play with
light and dark. We look at a color world and see it in black and
white and a million shades of gray. We use the finest equipment
possible to make sure we don't miss that instant when time and feeling
come together to present "the image". We use only the
finest true chemical process materials to print these
images.
And then we pause
to relax, smile and enjoy
Papa Razzi -
our focus is on you
